UPDATE – Arrest Made in Homicide Investigation in Huntington Park
On Thursday August 13, homicide detectives charged Michael Norman Powell, 19, of Alexandria, with Second Degree Murder in the killing of Khalid Aboumalik. The suspect was captured by a task force of Fairfax County Police Fugitive Detectives and The U.S. Marshals Service. He is being held with no bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
(August 5, 2015) Homicide Investigation in Huntington Park
Police are investigating an apparent homicide involving a middle-aged man whose body was found in Huntington Park on Wednesday, August 5. Residents walking in the area saw a body lying on the grass and called 9-1-1 around 7:12 a.m. The victim has not been identified. He suffered apparent wounds and significant trauma to the upper body. Detectives responded to the scene, near Liberty Drive and Arlington Terrace, along with additional police resources, including the Bloodhound and helicopter. Huntington Park is closed due the ongoing investigation. The Office of the State Medical Examiner will determine cause and manner of death and the investigation is ongoing.
