Crash Reconstruction Unit detectives are investigating a serious crash that left an 85-year-old Fairfax-area woman with life-threatening injuries. Police were called to the intersection of Braddock Road and Roberts Road for the two-vehicle crash around 2:12 p.m. on Sunday, August 16.
An investigation determined that a 47-year-old Chantilly-area man was driving a 2000 Ford van east on Braddock Road. The woman, driving a 2001 Cadillac, was traveling west on Braddock Road. The Ford van attempted to turn left on Roberts Road, in the path of the oncoming Cadillac. The two vehicles collided in the intersection.
The driver and passenger in the van were not injured. The woman driving the Cadillac was transported to Fairfax Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in this crash.
