ALCOHOL ENFORCEMENT

There will be a SOBRIETY CHECKPOINT Friday night, August 21, in the Franconia Police District.

SULLY DISTRICT STATION

HIT AND RUN ACCIDENT WITH APPREHENSION, Braddock Road near Union Mill Road, 08/17/15 at about 3:40 a.m. Officers were called for a report of a hit and run accident. A vehicle drove off the roadway through several yards resulting in the car being disabled. As responding officers arrived, the driver of the vehicle fled on foot into a wooded area attempting to elude them. A K9 team located the suspect on Old Clifton Road. The suspect failed to comply with the K9 Team’s verbal commands and was bitten by the K9 and arrested. After being treated by medics at the scene for a non-life-threatening injury, Michael R. Laforest, 29, of Lorton, was charged with DWI 4th offense, driving on a revoked license – DUI related, misdemeanor hit and run, and revocation of license for multiple conviction of DWI.

RESTON DISTRICT STATION 

BANK ROBBERY: 2500 block of Fox Mill Road, 08/19/15 at about 4:33 p.m. A man walked into a bank and announced a robbery. The suspect displayed a handgun and demanded money from the tellers. The suspect took cash and fled on foot. None of the victims required medical attention. The suspect is described as a light skinned male, 5 feet 5 inches tall, approximately 180 pounds, wearing a dark colored jump suit and black bandana over his face.

FRANCONIA DISTRICT STATION

WEST SPRINGFIELD DISTRICT STATION 

LARCENIES:

7800 block of Dassett Court, property from residence.

FAIR OAKS DISTRICT STATION 

ASSAULT/DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: 3900 block of Fair Ridge Drive, 08/19/15 at about 2:48 a.m. The victim was getting into his vehicle when a man approached him yelling derogatory words and swinging a baton. The suspect struck the windshield with the baton then fled on foot. Officers located the suspect and arrested him. The victim did not sustain any physical injury. Nadeem Malkawi, 19, of Fairfax was charged with simple assault and destruction of property.
