Keeping Our Roads Safe in Time for Start of School!

Out of service sticker

Officers from our Motor Carrier Safety Unit conducted a commercial vehicle safety inspection in the parking lot of the Greenbriar Shopping Center in Chantilly on Tuesday, September 1, from 7-11 a.m. As a result of their efforts, 20 trucks were inspected. 44 violations were noted, 10 traffic summonses were written and seven trucks were taken out of service; meaning taken off of the roadway for being unsafe. This inspection is part of an ongoing effort by the police department to ensure that the roadways in Fairfax County are as safe as possible; especially at this critical time, as the start of the new school year approaches. Please drive safely, remember to stop for school busses with their red lights flashing and the stop sign out. Watch for children crossing the road. Be mindful of the flashing lights, indicating a 25 mph speed limit through school zones.
