SULLY DISTRICT STATION

UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 4100 block of Bixby Court, 09/01/15, 8:27 p.m. Responding officers found a side door open. The homeowners came home and determined that nothing had been disturbed or taken. A K9 team cleared the inside of the home and then tracked over a rear fence to a nearby neighborhood, where the track was lost.

MOUNT VERNON DISTRICT STATION

BURGLARY, 8300 block of Hunter Murphy Circle, 09/01/15, 3:10 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the residence and took property.

MCLEAN DISTRICT STATION

BURGLARY, 1900 block of Leonard Road, 09/01/15, 6:45 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the residence and took property.

2900 block of District Avenue, merchandise from business

MASON DISTRICT STATION

POLICE SERVICE, 5500 block of Seminary Road, 09/01/15. Around 8:30 p.m., a five-year-old girl reportedly leaned on a screen and fell out of a fifth story window. The child was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Initial indications are that this was an accident and not criminal in nature. The investigation continues.

RESTON DISTRICT STATION

BURGLARY, 12000 block of Sugarland Valley Drive, 09/01/15, 1:51 p.m. A resident reported that someone removed the garage door opener from an unlocked car in the driveway and used it to enter the garage. Nothing reportedly taken.

FRANCONIA DISTRICT STATION

7400 block of Gillingham Row, Honda CRV.

WEST SPRINGFIELD DISTRICT STATION

BURGLARY/FOOT PURSUIT, 6000 Block of Waterbury Ct, 09/01/15. Shortly after 3 a.m. two officers were checking the area for two suspicious men they saw earlier. They located the men, recognized one as being wanted and attempted to stop and talk to them. The suspects ran into a nearby home and the officers followed in hot pursuit. One officer attempted to arrest the wanted suspect and was assaulted by him. That officer and the suspect were transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital and were treated for minor injuries. The investigation is ongoing.

BRANDISHING/DRUNK IN PUBLIC, 9700 block of Thorn Bush Drive, 09/01/15, 11:14 p.m. The victim, who rents a room in the home, heard gunshots outside. He investigated and found another tenant sitting in a car in the driveway, brandishing a handgun. Officers arrived, negotiated with the suspect and successfully convinced him to surrender peacefully. Sunny Darhele, 28, of the Thorn Bush Drive address, was arrested and charged with brandishing a firearm and with being drunk in public.

FAIR OAKS DISTRICT STATION

ANIMAL CRUELTY, 3000 block of Winter Pine Ct, 09/01/15, 3:15 p.m. Animal Control officers responded to a report that a 7-year-old, female Dachshund at the home was being neglected. As a result of the preliminary investigation, the dog was surrendered to the officers, transported to a local veterinarian and humanely euthanized. The owner has not been charged and the investigation continues.
