Police Charge Reston Robbery Suspect

Police charged a man after he reportedly robbed and assaulted a 19-year-old woman near the parking lot of the Best Buy store on Fountain Drive in Reston at around 11:15 p.m. Wednesday, October 7.

Raul Soto, 25, of no fixed address, reportedly followed a woman from the parking lot, blocked her path and made demands of her as she approached the tunnel that leads under Reston Parkway. He knocked her down, assaulted her, stole her phone and fled.

The victim reported the incident to police. Numerous resources, including Fairfax 01 (the helicopter) and a tracking K-9 and handler, were deployed to search the area. Following leads, officers located the suspect at a homeless shelter in Reston. The victim made a positive identification; and Soto was charged with robbery and transported to the Fairfax Adult Detention Center.
