Men Shot in Hybla Valley Apartment

Police responded to a report of a shooting in an apartment in the 7900 block of Audubon Avenue shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday, November 18.

Two men at the apartment suffered gunshot wounds and were transported to a local hospital. One man, age 22, died there; the other man, age 27, remains hospitalized in non-life threatening condition.

A third man, 21, reported to the Inova Mount Vernon Hospital emergency room with gunshot wounds, shortly after the incident. Detectives believe he was also involved in the shooting.

Police conducted an extensive search of the community, utilizing K-9 teams, Fairfax 1 (police helicopter), and patrol officers for several hours after the incident.

Preliminarily, detectives believe the shooting may have stemmed from a dispute inside the apartment and that there is no wider public safety threat to the community.

They are investigating the possibility that the shooting is related to the altercation in the home.

Charges are pending further investigation.
