Update: Suspect Charged with Murder

Detectives obtained and served a warrant charging Andre Curtis Wilkins with the murder of Marquel Davis on Friday, December 11. He was previously charged (on December 4) in the malicious wounding of a 27-year-old man.

Wilkins was already incarcerated in the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center at the time of the murder charge.

(Dec. 5, 2015) Hybla Valley Suspect Apprehended; Thanks to Crime Solvers Tips

The Fairfax County Crime Solvers program received tips that pinpointed the whereabouts of Andre Curtis Wilkins, a suspect in shooting of Marquel Davis on November 18.

Two callers contacted police through the Crime Solvers tip line on Friday, December 4 during the afternoon hours. They indicated that Wilkins was in the Audubon Road area of Hybla Valley. Numerous patrol officers responded to the area and conducted a comprehensive search. Wilkens was apprehended at around 3:30 p.m. without incident.

Detectives charged Andre Curtis Wilkins with malicious wounding and he was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. He is being held with no bond. The investigation is continuing.

SUSPECT IDENTIFIED; WANTED FOR MALICIOUS WOUNDING

Detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the suspect wanted in this crime. Andre Curtis Wilkins, 21, of Waldorf, Maryland is a black male, approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall and around 170 pounds. At the time of this incident, Wilkins had long hair in dreadlocks and a slight mustache and beard, but he has since shaved off the dreadlocks.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has determined that the manner of death is homicide and that the cause is gunshot wounds to the torso and extremities.

Detectives have identified the decedent of the Hybla Valley shooting as Marquel L. Davis, 21 of Audubon Avenue, Alexandria area of Fairfax County.

The Office of the Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.

The investigation is ongoing.

Men Shot in Hybla Valley Apartment

Police responded to a report of a shooting in an apartment in the 7900 block of Audubon Avenue shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday, November 18.

Two men at the apartment suffered gunshot wounds and were transported to a local hospital. One man, age 22, died there; the other man, age 27, remains hospitalized in non-life threatening condition.

A third man, 21, reported to the Mount Vernon Hospital emergency room with gunshot wounds, shortly after the incident. Detectives believe he was also involved in the shooting.

Police conducted an extensive search of the community, utilizing K-9 teams, Fairfax 1 (the helicopter), and patrol officers for several hours after the incident.

Preliminarily, detectives believe the shooting may have stemmed from a dispute inside the apartment and that there is no wider public safety threat to the community.

They are investigating the possibility that the shooting is related to the altercation in the home.

Charges are pending further investigation.
