The Daily Blotter January 12, 2016

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Join us at the Citizen Advisory Committee meeting at the Mount Vernon District Police Station this evening at 7 p.m. Lieutenant Bryan Holland, Assistant Commander of the station will discuss our Civil Disturbance Unit.

ALCOHOL ENFORCEMENT

Officers from the Operations Support Bureau, Traffic Safety Division, conducted grant funded DWI enforcement patrols throughout the county. One arrest was made for DWI. Two arrests were made for possession of marijuana and 10 summonses were issued.

BLOG POST: Successful Community Clean-up in Bailey’s Crossroads Area

BURGLARY: 4200 block of Annandale Rd. 1/11/16, 9:20 a.m. The owner reported that someone entered the business and took cash.

RESTON DISTRICT STATION

BURGLARY: 1400 block of Northgate Sq. 1/11/16, 5:43 p.m. A resident reported that someone entered the residence and took property.

FRACONIA DISTRICT STATION

BLOG POST: Commercial Armed Robbery in Springfield

ROBBERY: 9500 block of Hagel Circle. 1/11/16, 11:30 p.m. A 51-year-old man had just delivered a pizza and was walking back to his vehicle when he was approached by two men who pushed him against his vehicle and demanded money. The victim handed over an undisclosed amount of cash and was not injured. The suspects fled on foot. The suspects were described as black, around 6 feet tall and about 150 pounds. They were wearing black jackets and gray pants.

LARCENIES:

4300 block of Americana Drive, laptop from residence

FAIR OAKS DISTRICT STATION

LARCENIES:

 9700 block of Kingsbridge Drive, phone from residence

11100 block of Lee Highway, merchandise from business

12300 block of Lee Jackson Memorial Highway, property from residence

ANIMAL CONTROL DIVISION

MALTREATMENT OF ANIMAL: 8100 block of Kidd St., Alexandria, 1/11/16, 4:34 p.m. Officers initially responded to check on the welfare of the resident. Further investigation revealed evidence indicative of animals not being properly cared for in the home. Five cats, four birds and a rabbit were removed from the home and taken to the animal shelter for evaluation and care. The resident was transported to a local hospital for psychological evaluation and was eventually released and charged with being an unfit owner.
