Detectives from the Fairfax County Police Department’s Major Crimes Division are concluding their investigation regarding the in-custody death of Paul Guida, which occurred on Saturday, October 17, while he was an inmate at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. Guida, who was in the custody of the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office had been housed in the infirmary and was found unresponsive around 11 p.m. An autopsy was conducted on Monday, October 19 and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined the manner of death was natural.
Detectives are finalizing their documentation and are expected to submit the full case investigation to the Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney for Fairfax County for review next week. An investigation status update will be provided within 30 days or as new information becomes available.
