STOLEN AUTO/DISREGARD TRAFFIC SIGNAL/DRIVING WITHOUT A LICENSE/RECKLESS DRIVING/ARREST: 1/28/16, Lee Highway/Centrewood Drive, around 3:13 a.m. An officer on patrol observed a vehicle make an illegal turn and initiated a traffic stop. The driver pulled over nearby then fled on foot from the vehicle. The officer gave chase and apprehended the suspect. An investigation determined the vehicle was stolen from the 6200 block of Summer Pond Drive. Salomon F. Alan, 19, of Centreville, was taken to jail and charged with auto theft, disregarding a traffic signal, driving without an operator’s license and reckless driving.

DRIVING ON A REVOKED LICENSE/IDENTITY THEFT/POSSESSION OF SCHEDULE I OR II DRUGS/ OPEN CONTAINER/OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE/ARREST: 8900 block of Richmond Highway, 1/28/16, around 3 a.m. A patrol officer stopped a vehicle for traffic charges and an investigation revealed occupants were in possession of what appeared to be marijuana. Additionally, the officer discovered an open container of liquor inside the vehicle. Both suspects were taken into custody and transported to jail. Brittney D. Fortney, 25, of Dumfries, and Michael L. Williams, of Woodbridge, were charged with possession of a schedule I or II drug. Fortney was additionally charged with obstruction of justice. Williams was additionally charged with identity theft, possession of an open container while operating a vehicle and driving on a revoked license. He was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for an unrelated offense.
ATTEMPTED ROBBERY: 4000 block of Main Street, 1/28/16, around 8:40 p.m. A 52-year-old man was the victim of an attempted robbery by three males. The suspects assaulted the victim and demanded his belongings. The victim refused then fled on foot. One suspect started to give chase but then all three ran in another direction. They were described as black. Two wore all-black clothing; one suspect had on a red jacket. The victim did not require medical attention.

ROBBERY: 7200 block of Tyler Avenue, 1/28/16, around 10:45 p.m. Two people, a man and woman, robbed a 20-year-old man. The suspects allegedly pointed a gun at the victim, took his belongings then fled on foot. Both suspects were described as black, in their mid-20s, with thin builds. The male suspect had a dark complexion, was about 5 feet 9 inches tall and wore a gray hoodie and gray jeans. The female suspect had a light complexion, was about 5 feet 5 inches tall and wore a black coat, green pants, white Nike Jordan shoes and a white and blue beanie bearing a Batman logo. The victim did not require medical attention.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY: 9500 block of Greencastle Lane, 1/28/16, around 10:30 a.m. An unoccupied residence was unlawfully entered and someone appeared to have stayed overnight. Nothing appeared damaged or missing.

ELUDING POLICE/OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE/DRIVING ON A REVOKED LICENSE/ARREST: Little River Turnpike/Wakefield Chapel Road, 1/28/16, around 7:23 p.m. Officers attempted to stop a vehicle on traffic charges; the driver failed to yield and allegedly sped away from the officer. After a brief pursuit, the suspect stopped in the 4400 block of Banff Street and fled on foot. Officers were able to identify the suspect as Mohamed Taha, 21, of Annandale, and obtained warrants for driving on a revoked operator’s license and eluding police. Taha was located a short time later, arrested and transported to jail. The warrants were served and Taha was additionally charged with obstruction of justice.
