Update: Commercial Robbery; One Suspect Arrested

A juvenile male allegedly involved in the robbery has been arrested and charged with two felony offenses; one count of abduction and one count of robbery.  Major Crimes Division detectives are actively continuing their investigation.

Commercial Robbery/Malicious Wounding

Police are investigating a robbery that occurred at Sophia’s Jewelry Store at 6330 Springfield Plaza, on Monday, February 1, shortly after 10 a.m. As the owner prepared his display cases, two men entered the business and appeared to browse; looking at the merchandise. One of the men went behind the counter, displayed a knife, grabbed the victim and dragged him behind a wall. The second man removed jewelry from display cases. The suspects fled on foot and the victim ran to an adjacent business for help. The victim was treated at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The suspects were both described as Hispanic. One was approximately 6 feet tall. He was wearing black, bib overalls and a gray, hooded sweatshirt. The second suspect was shorter. He was wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt and dark, gray pants.
