Major Crimes Division detectives continue their investigation into the murder of Johan De Leede. On Friday, March 11, shortly after 1 a.m., officers responded to 6017 River Drive for a report of an unresponsive man. They located Mr. De Leede inside the residence suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Officers rendered first aid until rescue transported him to a local hospital where he died a short time later. The preliminary investigation determined that De Leede was inside the residence when the shooting occurred. Police department personnel have increased their presence in and around the area since the time of the homicide. The latest canvass of the area was conducted during the evening hours of Tuesday, March 29. Another canvass is planned for Wednesday, March 30, again during evening hours. In addition, a community meeting is being planned and coordinated for the near future. The date, time and location will be announced once it has been established. Until then, the residence of the Hallowing Point community and surrounding areas; friends, neighbors, associates and acquaintances, are strongly encouraged to contact the police department if you have any information about this case.
