MALICIOUS WOUNDING: 5800 block of Trinity Parkway, 04/02/16, around 11:10 p.m. A 20-year-old man was with friends outside of a restaurant. He walked to his vehicle when another vehicle pulled up. The victim and occupants were acquaintances and started talking. For unknown reasons, one of the passengers produced a gun, fired at the victim, then the vehicle fled the scene. The victim was struck in the lower body and transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect vehicle was described as an older model Toyota sedan.

BURGLARY: 6100 block of Bayliss Place, 04/02/16, 5:45 a.m. An unknown person forced entry into a home while the resident, a 62-year-old woman, was sleeping. An investigation determined there were two suspects. They fled when the victim awoke. Several items were missing from the home. No suspect description is available.

BURGLARY: 2200 block of Huntington Ave, 04/01/16, 2:50 a.m. A resident reported a business had been broken into. The owner responded and advised currency was taken.  The suspect was described as Hispanic, 20 to 35 years old, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, 160 to 190 pounds, and had black hair.

TRAFFIC PURSUIT/DRUNK IN PUBLIC/RECKLESS DRIVING/DRIVING ON REVOKED OPERATOR’S LICENSE/ARREST: Leesburg Pike/Bishopgate Way, 04/02/16, 1:49 a.m. An officer observed two vehicles racing and attempted to stop one vehicle. The officer activated his emergency lights but the driver of the vehicle allegedly failed to yield and accelerated away from the officer. A brief traffic pursuit followed. The pursuit ended when the suspect lost control of his vehicle, drove into a yard and struck a tree. The driver fled from the vehicle on foot. Three other passengers attempted to flee on foot but two were apprehended. Rebecca A. Shires, 23, of Springfield, and Aaron M. Chew, 23, of Burke, were transported to jail and charged with drunk in public. The officer obtained two warrants for the driver, Corey A. Gonzalez, 25, of Springfield; he turned himself in the following day and was charged with reckless driving and driving on a revoked operator’s license.

BURGLARY: 13300 block of Parcher Ave, 04/01/16, 7:05 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the residence and took property. The suspect was described as Hispanic, 20 to 25 years old, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches, 160 to 180 pounds, and wearing a puffy jacket and hat.

UPDATE: Chief to Give Statement Today at 5:15 p.m. at Government Center

PEEPING: 5700 block of Backlick Road, 04/01/16, 10:38 p.m. A resident looked out the window and saw a man looking into the room. The suspect fled prior to police arrival. The suspect was described as Hispanic, 30 to 40 years old, mustache, and was wearing cargo pants and black shirt.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY: 7200 block of Wesley Road, 04/01/16, 3:30 a.m. Officers responded to a residential burglary alarm. A resident reported someone entered the residence but no property was taken.

NARCOTICS VIOLATIONS: Rushing Creek Ct / Rushing Creek Dr, 03/31/16, 6:18 p.m. Patrol officers observed suspicious activity and upon further investigation found narcotics in two separate vehicles. Joseph Patrick Nolan, 23, of Springfield, was charged with possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a schedule I narcotic, and three counts of possession of a schedule II narcotic.
