Detectives Investigate Death in Burke

Officers, along with personnel from Fairfax County Fire and Rescue, responded to Lake Braddock Secondary School, 9200 Burke Lake Road, on Wednesday, April 20 shortly before 6 p.m. for the report of an unresponsive female found in a bathroom inside the school. When officers arrived, Rescue was already on scene performing CPR on the 16-year-old girl. She was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital and was pronounced deceased a short time later. She has been identified as Brenda Carina Soto of Heritage Square Drive in Burke. Next of kin has been notified. Fairfax County Public Schools have made crisis counselors available to students and staff. Detectives from the Major Crimes Division have been investigating this incident, gathering information and are asking the public for any information that may assist them with their investigation. There is no apparent threat to public safety and no overtly suspicious circumstances associated with Ms. Soto’s death.
