UPDATE: Suspect Composite Sketch Released

Franconia Police District – Major Crimes Division detectives have obtained a suspect composite sketch for the sex offense that occurred on Friday, June 3 in the area of Richmond Highway and Cherwek Drive, in the Lorton area. Further investigation has determined the assault occurred in the 9500 block of Saluda Court near the path to the bridge.

The suspect was described as possibly Hispanic, between 28 and 30 years old and about 5 feet 6 inches tall, with a medium build. He had short, black hair and was seen wearing light blue jeans, a white T-shirt, with a design or writing on the front, and black shoes.

(Original release 6/4/16) Police Investigate Sexual Assault in the Lorton Area

Police were called for a report of a sexual assault on Friday, June 3 around 4:55 p.m. An investigation determined a 20-year-old woman was walking in the area of Richmond Highway near Cherwek Drive when a man approached from behind, grabbed her dress and sexually assaulted her. The suspect fled on foot.

Police units and a K-9 team searched the area extensively but did not locate him. The suspect was described as Hispanic, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and clean-shaven, with short, dark hair. The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
