Detectives Investigate Thefts in Several Local Starbucks

Join Mount Vernon Police District tomorrow night at 7 p.m. located at 2511 Parkers Lane, Alexandria, Virginia for a cookout! Good food will kick off the summer and end our monthly community engagement meetings until September.

Join Franconia Police District located at 6121 Franconia Rd, Alexandria, Virginia, Wednesday, June 15, at 7:30 p.m. Captain Powell will be grilling some great food and welcoming summer with members of our community and the citizens advisory committee.

Engage with the Mclean Police District and the Mclean Citizens Association on Wednesday, June 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and hear about Senior Citizen Safety. This event will be held at the Mclean Community Center located at 1234 Ingleside Avenue in Mclean. Older adults will learn about public safety topics such as texting and next generation 9-1-1, hazardous materials, the Zika virus, disaster preparedness, and scams and frauds that affect the senior citizen population. No RSVP required and the event is open to all.

Join Sully Police District Saturday, June 18, from 1 to 4 p.m. at 4000 Stringfellow Road in Chantilly for Touch a Truck. Forget toy trucks and cars! Kids can get a close up look at the real thing! Climb, explore, and learn about your favorite cars and trucks on wheels! There will be also be live music, child fingerprinting, and MORE! Free parking at Chantilly High School.

Would you like to learn more about the Fairfax County Police Department and meet the men and women who serve? Join us as we host a three-hour forum on Saturday, June 18, from 1:30-4:30 p.m. at the Kings Park Library, located at 9000 Burke Lake Road in Burke, Virginia.

Attendees will be presented with an overview of the Fairfax County Police Department and will have the opportunity to gain insight into police policies and procedures. Other topics that will be covered are use of force, what to expect during traffic stops, and the everyday challenges that officers face.

There will also be an opportunity to learn more about FCPD’s full, ten week Citizens Police Academy, summer programs for high school students, and how to participate in station level Citizen Advisory Committees. Directed Patrol: 06/10/16 – 6/12/16. Officers from several police districts participated in grant funded DWI directed patrol and stopped 127 vehicles, charged four people with DWI, issued 92 traffic summonses, and placed three criminal charges.


BURGLARY: 6400 block of La Petite Place, 06/11/16, 11:13 a.m. Resident reported someone broke into his home through a sliding glass door. No property was taken and no suspect information.

COMMERCIAL ROBBERY: 2400 block of Fairhaven Avenue, 06/11/16, 2:39 a.m. Police responded for a report of two men who went into a business, implied a weapon towards employees and demanded money from the cash register. The suspects fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. Both suspects were described as black, one was thin build, approximately 19 to 25 years-old, and 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet. The other suspect was heavy set, approximately 19 to 25 years old, and 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall. The victims did not require medical attention.

Police Investigate Shots Fired at Moving Vehicles

POSSESSION WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE/POSSESSION OF FIREARM/ARREST: 1600 block of Anderson Road, 06/10/16, 7:16 p.m. Officers were on criminal patrol when they conducted a subject stop on two women sitting in a vehicle. The officers detected what appeared to be an odor of marijuana. Search subsequent to arrest produced narcotics and a handgun in the vehicle. Donna Tran, 26, of Annandale was arrested, transported to the adult detention center, and charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a Schedule I or II drug, and possession of a firearm. Michelle Park was arrested, transported to the adult detention center and charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a Schedule I or II drug, and false identification.

Update: Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Falls Church Area

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY/POSSESSION OF BURGLARIOUS TOOLS/ARREST: 3900 block of Prosperity Avenue, 06/12/16, 6:10 a.m. Officers responded to a business alarm and observed a man fleeing the scene. Further investigation determined the man was involved in a burglary at the business, along with two other men. Officers located and identified Johnny Hoang Le, 20, of Alexandria. He was arrested, transported to the adult detention center, and charged with attempted burglary and possession of burglarious tools. Two other suspects fled and were described as Hispanic or white juveniles, approximately 16 to 18 years old.


MALICIOUS WOUNDING / ASSAULT BY MOB: 2900 block of Patrick Henry Drive, 06/10/16, 11:57 p.m. One male approached another male and a verbal argument started. The argument escalated; two more subjects joined in and the victim attempted to defend himself. The victim walked away from the incident but the three suspects followed him and assaulted him. The victim sustained life-threatening injuries and was treated at a local hospital. One of the suspects sustained a non-life-threatening injury and was also transported to a local hospital. All three suspects were described as Hispanic, 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 6 inches tall, and approximately 150 to 160 pounds. They were wearing dark colored pants, and one red, blue, and black shirt.
