The Daily Blotter Weekend Recap July 1-4, 2016

This report is published every weekday, except county holidays. The information in each report covers significant criminal incidents generally from the day before; reports published on Monday cover the preceding Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Some incidents may appear a day or two after the occurrence.

The report contains selected crimes, including animal-related incidents and property crimes. The information is organized by police district station. There will be a sobriety checkpoint on Saturday, July 9, in the Sully District Station, from 11:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. Stay safe and drive sober.

Throughout the holiday weekend numerous officers from around the county conducted DWI enforcement, through the use of checkpoints and direct patrol. These efforts resulted in several arrests for Driving While Intoxicated, as well as four criminal arrests and at least 40 traffic summonses issued.

ARMED ROBBERY: 8400 block of Frye Road. 070516, 12:34 a.m. A 31-year-old man parked his car and as he was getting out, he was approached by a man who assaulted him and demanded money. The victim handed over an undisclosed amount of cash and was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect fled on foot. He was described as black, 27-30 years old, about 5 feet 10 inches tall. He was wearing black pants and a black coat.

ROBBERY: 7700 block of Blue Jay Court. 07/04/16, 9:08 p.m. A 63-year-old man is a pizza delivery driver. He went to the Blue Jay Ct. address and when he got out of his car, he was confronted by two men who assaulted him and took some of the food he was delivering. The victim did not require medical attention. The suspects were described as black, in their mid-teens. One wore a white cloth on his head, a black T-shirt andf shorts. The other suspect was wearing a black shirt and black pants.

ATTEMPTED ABDUCTION: 3600 block of Barcroft View Terrace. 07/04/16, 9:44 p.m. A concerned resident called police to report that a man was grabbing children in a common area of the apartment complex during a fireworks display. Responding officers located the suspect who appeared to be highly intoxicated. Witnesses said they saw the suspect inappropriately touch two boys; one four years old, the other six years old. A parent intervened and the children were not injured. The suspect, Maximino Hercules Ayala, 29, of no fixed address, was arrested and transported to the adult detention center where he was charged with two counts of attempted abduction and being drunk in public.

STOLEN VEHICLE RECOVERY: Barkley Drive/Karen Drive. 07/02/16, 1:45 a.m. Earlier in the evening, a lookout was broadcast for a vehicle that was stolen from the Walmart parking lot in Burke. Approximately two hours later, Fairfax City Police received an “LPR Hit” regarding the stolen vehicle, on Route 50, near the Fairfax County line. As officers were checking the area, a resident called police to report that a vehicle had crashed near his home and that the occupants had fled. That vehicle matched the description of the stolen vehicle. A perimeter was set up and a K9 team and Fairfax 1 responded. The suspects; two juveniles and one adult, were located and arrested a short time later. The case is still under investigation and no further information is available at this time.

BURGLARY: 11000 block of Tori Glenn Court, 7/2/16, 10:20 p.m. A resident reported a man entered his home through an unsecured door. The man left when he saw someone was home. Nothing was taken. The suspect was described as a black, 20-years-old, 6 feet tall with a flat top.

INDECENT EXPOSURE: 6500 block of Springfield Mall, 7/1/16, 4:43 p.m. A woman was walking in the parking garage when she was asked for directions by a male in a white van. As she approached she noticed a man touching himself inappropriately. The suspect was described as a Hispanic or Middle Eastern, and 20 to 30 years old.

BURGLARY: 4400 block of Weatherington Lane, 7/1/16, 10:45 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the house and took property.

BURGLARY: 13000 block of Legacy Circle, 7/2/16, 9:13 p.m. An employee reported someone entered the business and took property while he was inside. The four male suspects were described as black and between 13 to 17 years old.

MALTREAT ANIMAL: 5000 block of Lone Oak Place, 7/2/16, 10:55 p.m. Officers were called to a home for a medical call. The home was determined to be unfit for habitation and two dogs were removed from the location.
