ALCOHOL ENFORCEMENT

West Springfield patrol officers conducted a DWI patrol from 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 7 to 4 a.m. Friday, July 8. Officers made 36 traffic stops resulting in 23 citations, one DWI arrest, two criminal violations and 13 warnings for various traffic violations.

MOUNT VERNON DISTRICT STATION

ROBBERY: 8300 block of Richmond Highway, 7/7/16, around 7 p.m. Police are investigating a commercial robbery at a Sunoco gas station. An investigation determined the clerk, a 55-year-old man, was outside assisting a customer when a male approached and started talking to him. The clerk noticed another male inside the store stealing money. He immediately moved and confronted the suspect, who allegedly assaulted him and both suspects fled on foot. They were described as black. One suspect was about 5 feet 11 inches and about 140 pounds, with dread locks. He wore blue pants with white stripes and yellow shoes. The other suspect was about 5 feet 8 inches tall and about 160 pounds. The victim did not require medical attention.

BURGLARY: 13000 block of Blueberry Lane, 7/7/16, around 4p.m. A resident reported someone entered their residence and stole property.

ANIMAL CONTROL DIVISION

UNRESTRICTED DOG/DANGEROUS DOG/ARREST: 3200 block of Wayne Road (Falls Church area), 7/5/16, around 10:30 a.m. Animal Protection Police (APP) officers responded to a report of a dog attack.  A woman reported that she was walking her dog in the area when an unsecured dog attacked hers.  The woman attempted to separate the dogs and was injured.  The victim dog died from its injuries at the scene.  The woman was transported to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.  APP Officers impounded the aggressive dog where it will remain impounded at the Fairfax County Animal Shelter until the court hearing, where a trial will be conducted concerning both charges.  Catherine Thao Nguyen, 28, of Falls Church, Virginia, was charged with unrestricted dog and dangerous dog violations. The investigation is ongoing.
