Arrest Made in Shooting
West Springfield Police District – At around 12:11 a.m. on Monday, July 11, officers responded to the 9000 block of Igoe Street for a report of a shot person. When police arrived they discovered that the victim, a 22-year-old man, had already left and was being treated at the INOVA HealthPlex-Lorton for a gunshot wound to the neck. The victim’s injuries were non-life-threatening.
The investigation determined that the victim and the suspect had an argument earlier at Newington Heights Park in the 8400 block of Monacan Road. During the argument, the victim was shot in the neck and was able to flee.
Major Crimes Division detectives responded to the hospital and began their investigation. On Monday, July 11, warrants were obtained for Marquail Eason, 22, of Springfield, for malicious shooting and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. The Fairfax County Track and Apprehension Team arrested Eason on Thursday, July 14, at around 8:44 a.m. in Prince William County where he was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Facility. The weapon believed to be used during the incident was recovered by our detectives.
