Fairfax County Man Arrested on Additional Charges for Sex Offenses with Minors

Fair Oaks Police District – On June 17, detectives from the Major Crimes Division had arrested and charged a man with taking indecent liberties with a child and aggravated sexual battery. See the original blog post here: Fairfax Man Charged with Sex Offenses with a Child.

After a thorough investigation, Major Crimes Division detectives determined that Joseph Patrick Gamerl, 53, of Fairfax, was using an electronic device to solicit minors. Detectives believe there may be additional victims in this case.


On August 8, around 4:00 p.m., the Fairfax County Police Department’s Fugitive Squad arrested Gamerl in another jurisdiction and transported him to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was charged with three counts of using an electronic device to solicit a minor and three counts of soliciting child pornography.
