Officers from the Operations Support Bureau conducted grant-funded DUI patrols on Friday, August 19 and Sunday, August 21. One arrest was made for DWI and six summonses were issued. Two were arrested for possession of marijuana and one juvenile was charged with underage possession of alcohol.

Officers from the Operations Support Bureau along with officers from the West Springfield District Station conducted a DWI checkpoint on Saturday, August 20. 784 vehicles passed through the checkpoint. Eight summonses were issued and one narcotics case was initiated and is still under investigation.


TRAFFIC PURSUIT/DWI ARREST: New Braddock Rd/Union Mill Rd. 8/21/16, 9:03 p.m. A patrol officer observed a dark colored Honda CRV swerving on New Braddock Road. The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop near the intersection of Union Mill Drive, but the driver of the Honda disregarded the blue lights and siren and continued on. A pursuit was called and traveled to Route 28 and then onto eastbound Interstate 66. The Honda took the exit for westbound Route 50 where the officer performed a PIT (Precision Immobilization Technique), bringing the pursuit to an end. There were no injuries reported. The driver of the Honda, 29-year-old Eteri Arganashvilli of Centreville, was arrested and charged with DWI and felony eluding police.

ROBBERY: 2300 block of Farrington Avenue. 8/19/16, 11:27 a.m. A 30-year-old man was walking when he was approached by two men; one white, one black, who assaulted him and took his wallet.

BURGLARY: 7900 block of Janna Lee Avenue. 8/19/16, 12:26 a.m. A resident reported that someone entered the residence and took property containing an undisclosed amount of cash. The victim did not require medical attention. The suspects fled and there was no further description given due to darkness.

ROBBERY: 6500 block of Gildar Street. 8/20/16, 1:44 a.m. A pizza delivery driver was walking up to the intended address when he was approached by a man who displayed a handgun and demanded money. The victim handed over an undisclosed amount of cash and was not injured. The suspect was described as black, 20-25 years old, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a slender build. He was wearing a gray, hooded sweatshirt, black pants and a black ski mask.

MISSILE INTO AN OCCUPPIED DWELLING: 9300 block of Lewis Chapel Road. 8/22/16, 12:09 a.m. Two adults and a 3-year-old child were inside their apartment when they heard what they thought was the sound of a gunshot. Further investigation revealed an apparent bullet had traveled through a window and lodged in an interior wall in the apartment. There were no injuries. This is believed to be an isolated incident, possibly related to an earlier event. It was not a random act. The investigation is ongoing.

ROBBERY: 7500 block of McWhorter Place. 8/19/16, 6:23 a.m. A 35-year-old female and her two children were walking along McWhorter Place when a gray, four-door sedan stopped near them. A Hispanic male got out of the car and ran toward them. He grabbed the victim’s purse, ran back to the car and fled. He was further described as having a dark complexion and wearing a hooded sweatshirt.

ROBBERY: 3200 Germantown Road (Oak Marr Golf Course). 8/19/16, 5:36 p.m. A man entered the club house, displayed a handgun and demanded money. There were no injuries. The suspect was described as black, 25-30 years old, 5 feet 6 to 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a slender build. He was wearing all black.
