Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Richmond Highway

MCLEAN DISTRICT STATION

TRAFFIC PURSUIT: Leesburg Pike/Gallows Road. 11/14/16, 2:33 a.m. A McLean District officer attempted to stop a black Dodge Charger that was traveling at night without its headlights on. The driver of the Charger refused to stop and a pursuit began. A K9 team and a Virginia State Trooper assisted. The pursuit was terminated when the Charger fled over the Woodrow Wilson Bridge, into Maryland. There were no injuries and the incident is still under investigation.

INDECENT LIBERTIES: 2700 block of Blocker Place. 11/13/16, 3:01 p.m. Two little girls; one 8 and one 11, were riding their scooters, when they were approached by an unknown man in a car. The man stopped near the two and tried to get them to come close to his car to look at an apparent pornographic video on his cell phone. The girls fled and approached the first adult they knew to report the incident. The suspect vehicle was described as a dark colored Toyota sedan. The suspect was described as possibly Middle Eastern, in his thirties. He had dark, medium length hair and a short beard. He was wearing a dark sweater.

FRANCONIA DISTRICT STATION

ROBBERY WITH ARREST: Lorton Station Blvd./Harrover Place. 11/12/16, 8:12 p.m. A 34-year-old man was shopping at a local business and saw two men outside asking people for money. The man walked out of the business and a short time later, both of the other men approached him threatened him with a knife and demanded money. The suspects eventually fled with the victim’s cell phone, after striking him in the head with the handle of the knife. The victim did not require medical attention. He was able to watc the suspects get on a Fairfax Connector bus. He called 911 and provided the bus number and a description of the suspects. Officers located and stopped the bus a short distance away. The suspects were located on the bus. They were positively identified and arrested.

Christian Dias, 18 and Darien Hicks, 24, both of Lorton, were charged with robbery and malicious wounding. Dias was also charged with carrying a concealed weapon and Hicks was charged with illegal possession of narcotics.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY: 5700 block of Telegraph Road. BP gas station. 11/11/16, 6:37 a.m. An employee came to open the business and noticed damage to the cash register. Apparently no cash was kept in the register overnight, cigarettes were stolen.

9800 block of Richmond Highway, 2006 Ford F350

WEST SPRINGFIELD DISTRICT STATION

ROBBERY/SHOOTING: 8000 block of Barcarole Court. 11/12/16, 1:30 a.m. A 33-year-old Springfield man and a 33-year-old woman from Woodbridge, were walking from the man’s car toward his residence, when they were approached by an unknown man. The unknown man asked for the first man’s jacket and he handed it over. The unknown man then shot the victim and then fled. The victim and his companion walked home and called 911. Officers responded to the home, found the victim and initiated first aid until rescue arrived. The victim was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect was described as a young black male wearing a gray, hooded sweatshirt. A K9 team and Fairfax 1 responded to the scene.

BURGLARY: 4900 block of Gainsborough Drive. 11/11/16, 7:28 p.m. Residents report that someone entered the home and took jewelry.

FAIR OAKS DISTRICT STATION

ATTEMPTED ROBBERY: 11100 block of Lee Highway. 11/11/16, 4:36 a.m. A 69-year-old woman was sitting in her car in the Walmart parking lot when an unknown man walked up, pointed a gun at her and told her to get out of the car. The victim beeped her car horn several times, causing the suspect to flee. She was not injured. The suspect was described as white, with a green, hooded sweatshirt, black pants, black shoes and a green backpack.
