Fairfax Station Single-Vehicle Crash Results in Fatality

West Springfield Police District – Officers were called to the scene of a single-vehicle crash in the 7600 block of Clifton Road last night, just before 10 p.m. Once in the area, they found a 2007 VW Golf that had traveled off the road and struck a tree. An 18-year-old Springfield man was driving and taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The passenger, Paola Estrada Izaguirre, 21, of Springfield, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives from the Crash Reconstruction Unit (CRU) responded to the scene and their investigation is ongoing. It appears that the Golf was traveling east on Clifton Road, when the driver crested a hill and lost control of the car. Speed appears to be a factor in this crash.
