Grand Larceny Leads to Traffic Pursuit in Tysons
McLean Police District – Shortly after 9 p.m. last evening, officers received an alarm activation at Bloomingdales in Tysons Corner Center. As they were driving up to the store entrance, they saw three men running to a parked car with what appeared to be merchandise. The car took off and the officers attempted a traffic stop. The driver did not stop and a pursuit began. The pursuit ended near Besley Road and Bois Avenue when the suspect vehicle crashed. All three suspects ran from the car on foot. K9 and Fairfax 1 responded to assist in the search for the suspects; they were not located. The car, a 2016 Mazda 6, was determined to be stolen from another state. It will be processed for evidence and later returned to the jurisdiction from where it was reported stolen. During the pursuit, the suspects sideswiped another car on the road. The driver of that car was not injured. No one else was injured and no other damage was incurred.
The suspects were described as black, in their early 20s. One was wearing a hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and red and black shoes. Another was wearing a gray sweatshirt and blue jeans; he had short hair. The third suspect had a goatee and was wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt. We believe all of the merchandise was recovered. The Media Relations Bureau tweeted a quick synopsis of this as it was occurring and asked residents in the area of Besley/Old Courthouse Rd to call us immediately if they saw or heard anything suspicious.
