ROBBERY: 7100 block of Mint Place. 3/20/17, 8:44 p.m. A 42-year old man was walking toward his apartment building when he was approached by two men who asked him for money. The victim attempted to run away, but the suspects caught him, knocked him to the ground and repeatedly kicked and punched him. A passerby saw this and yelled, causing the suspects to stop the assault and run away. The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspects were described as black, in their early 20s, both skinny and wearing all black clothing.

WEST SPRINGFIELD DISTRICT STATION
ATTEMPTED ARMED ROBBERY: 5700 block of Burke Center Parkway. 3/20/17, 8:56 p.m. A 44-year-old employee of the Shell Gas Station, was inside the business when a man entered, displayed a handgun and demanded money. The employee didn’t believe the gun was real, so he refused to give up any money. The suspect ran out of the business toward Burke Center Parkway and Oak Green Way. The victim was not injured. The suspect was described as black, in his mid-teens, around 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a skinny build. He was wearing a black knit cap, a black and white skull cap and a black, long-sleeved shirt.
