Detectives Charge Woman with Credit Card Crimes
Maria Renee Garcia
West Springfield Police District – Earlier today, detectives from our Financial Crimes Section arrested Maria Renee Garcia, 46, of the 4300 block of Hollowview Court in Fairfax.
Our investigation began on March 9, when a victim reported that he had mistakenly left a credit card at an ATM at a banking facility in Fairfax City. He then discovered that his card had been used in several fraudulent transactions in Fairfax County, in the City of Fairfax and in Prince William County. The victim subsequently reported the situation to us. Detectives were able to obtain video footage of the suspect as well as documentation; linking Garcia with the transactions.
Garcia was arrested at her home shortly after 10 this morning. She was taken to the Adult Detention Center and charged with credit card theft, credit card fraud, credit card forgery and credit card uttering.
