MOUNT VERNON DISTRICT STATION

UNLICENSED DOG: 7900 block of Audubon Avenue, 4/11/17 around 12:25 p.m. Animal Protection Police (APP) officers responded to a home for a report of a welfare check on a 6-month-old Pit Bull mix. The owner was home, so APP officers spoke to him at length about properly caring for dogs, laws pertaining to owning pets and provided him a brochure, “Your Pets and the Law.” The man, Mario B. Mejia, 18, was issued a summons for not having a dog license.

ROBBERY/ARREST: 2800 block of Fairhaven Avenue, 4/11/17 around 4:20 p.m. A man was arrested after attempting to rob a 27-year-old woman. The victim was walking outside when the man approached and asked for money. When she refused, he displayed a small knife and demanded money. The victim ran to safety. Officers responded and located the suspect nearby in his apartment. Scott C. Johnston, 30, of Alexandria, was arrested, taken to the Adult Detention Center and charged with robbery. He was also served with an outstanding assault warrant. The victim did not require medical attention.

ROBBERY/ARREST: 2500 block of Huntington Avenue, 4/11/17 around 11:05 p.m. Two men were arrested for robbing another man. The victim, a 27-year-old man, was at a bus stop when the two men asked him for money. The victim gave them a small amount of money then one of them asked for the bag he was holding. When the victim refused, the suspects implied a gun, took the victim’s bag and boarded a bus to escape. Officers located the bus, stopped it and took the suspects into custody. Cortez D. Williams, 29, and Wesley Dozier, 38, both of Springfield, were taken to the Adult Detention Center and charged with robbery. The victim did not require medical attention. No mug shot was available for Dozier.

Man Charged with Felony Sex Abuse of 12-Year-Old Girl at In-Home Daycare

FRANCONIA DISTRICT STATION

LARCENY FROM VEHICLE/STOLEN AUTO/ARREST: Elder Avenue/Franconia Road, 4/11/17 around 10:10 p.m. Two teenaged boys were arrested for stealing property from cars in the area. Officers were called for a report of two people trying to get into parked cars and located the suspects. An investigation determined they had also stolen a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado earlier in the night. The pickup truck was located nearby and returned to the owner. The suspects, a 16-year-old Springfield boy and a 15-year-old Lorton boy, were released to family and charges will be sought.
