The decedent in today’s shooting was Enrique R. Vanterpool, 27, of Alexandria. The investigation continues as detectives work to gather information and evidence to determine exactly what took place. An autopsy will be conducted next week by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the exact cause and manner of death.

Argument Resulted in Fatal Shooting; Investigation Underway
Franconia Police District – Detectives are investigating a fatal shooting at a business in the 5700 block of General Washington Drive in the Alexandria-area of Fairfax County. The preliminary investigation determined a group of men were inside the business and at least two of them began arguing. The argument escalated and one man was shot and killed around 7:20 a.m. Detectives are conducting interviews with witnesses to determine exactly what happened.
The men involved appear to know each other. Detectives continue to process the scene and gather information. They do not believe there is a threat to public safety. More details will be provided as they become available. The decedent’s name will be released once we have confirmed his identity and his family has been notified.
