Update: Surveillance Video Connects Suspects Involved in Two Robberies

McLean/Mount Vernon Police Districts – Detectives have connected two robberies that occurred within hours of each other on Saturday, May 6. The first one took place around 8:30 p.m. at Cigar World, in the 8100 block of Leesburg Pike, in the Vienna area. Two men entered the store and approached an employee, a 25-year-old woman. One suspect implied a weapon and demanded cash, then both suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. The employee did not require medical attention.

The second robbery occurred around 10:20 p.m. at an Exxon gas station in the 6900 block of South Kings Highway, in the Alexandria area. An investigation determined an employee, a 25-year-old man, was inside when a man knocked on the door, wanting to enter. The employee let him in then another man also entered the store. One suspect implied a weapon, demanded cash, then both suspects left the store with an undisclosed amount of cash. The victim was not injured.

On Monday, May 8, a summary of each robbery was included in the FCPD WEEKEND RECAP and suspect photos from the Exxon robbery were shared in a separate blog post (see below for the original entries). Initially, detectives did not believe the first man who entered the Exxon was a suspect; however, after reviewing surveillance video from both robberies, realized both men were working together and involved in both robberies. One suspect is described as white or Hispanic, mid 20s, around 6 feet tall and 160 to 180 pounds, and has multiple tattoos. The second suspect is described as Hispanic or black, mid 20s, around 5 feet 8 inches, 180 to 220 pounds and was wearing sunglasses in both robberies.
