Pursuit of Stolen Car Ends in Crash

Mount Vernon Police District – An investigation is underway after the pursuit of a stolen car ends with a crash. Shortly before 10 p.m. yesterday, an officer attempted to stop a stolen car in the area of Richmond Highway and Reddick Avenue, in Alexandria. The driver took off northbound on Richmond Highway and a pursuit began. A Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) was used to stop the car. The car left the roadway and hit a light pole, splitting it in two. The driver and two passengers were taken to the hospital. They are in stable condition. The officer was not injured.

The car was confirmed to be stolen out of Washington, D.C., earlier this week. Detectives and staff from our Crash Reconstruction Unit (CRU), Major Crimes Division, and the Internal Affairs Bureau responded and are investigating. Charges are pending.
