FCPD’s Eye in the Sky Helps Nab 17-year-old Armed Robbery Suspect

A 17-year-old is facing robbery charges after members of our police helicopter unit and officers from the Prince William County Police Department cut his crime-spree short Monday morning. Prince William County Police officers were called around 1:10 a.m. for an attempted robbery at a convenience store in the 1700 block of Featherstone Road in Woodbridge. Officers searched the area for the suspect but did not find him. About 40 minutes later, another armed robbery call came in at a nearby convenience store. Their officers quickly determined the suspect description matched their earlier call. Officers checking the area spotted the suspect at a third convenience store, but he ran away when they challenged him. Our police helicopter, Fairfax 1, was requested to help with the search. Through the use of an infrared camera system, officers aboard Fairfax 1 found the suspect hiding beneath the deck of a home on Chico Court. Fairfax 1 guided Prince William County officers on the ground to the suspect, who was arrested without further incident. Phenomenal teamwork by two neighboring police agencies!
