Missing 91-Year-Old Gerard Restaino Found Deceased

McLean District Station – After an intense two-day search for a 91-year-old man with memory issues, unfortunately our officers found his body today in a field in the 8900 block of Leesburg Pike in Vienna.

Mr. Gerard Restaino disappeared from a car dealership in the 8600 block of Leesburg Pike in Vienna on Friday, January 19, at 4 p.m. Officers have been tirelessly searching the area. When he was not found nearby, officers checked area hospitals, the Adult Detention Center, hotels, churches, stores, construction sites, and many other locations. A look out was given to surrounding jurisdictions and Virginia State Police. Koons Toyota employees assisted with the search by checking their building, as well as in and under cars in the parking lot. Our bloodhound assisted in the search as well as multiple fly-overs by Fairfax One. Mr. Restaino was entered into the national system (NCIC) as a critical missing adult Friday evening. Officers continued to search for him throughout the night.

Saturday, officers continued to search the extended area as far as a half mile away. A silver alert was issued for Mr. Restaino at 2 pm. Over 100 officers, personnel and volunteers assisted in the search to include our Search and Rescue Team, Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority Police Department, the Shenandoah Mountain Rescue Group, Metro Transit Police Department, employees of Koons Toyota as well as Mr. Restaino’s family. Officers, personnel, and volunteers searched on foot through the night and into the morning until he was found deceased in the 8900 block of Leesburg Pike in Vienna at 9:30 this morning.
