MOUNT VERNON DISTRICT STATION

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY: 7600 block of Richmond Hwy., 8/7/2018, 4:37 a.m. An employee reported that two men entered the business by prying open the front door. The employee saw on her camera system that the two men attempted to steal an ATM. When the men were not able to steal it, they pried the pharmacy doors open. After hearing an alarm, the two men ran from the business. They were seen driving away in a light colored, newer model SUV. Nothing was taken, but both doors were damaged.

MASON DISTRICT STATION

ROBBERY: 3800 block of South George Mason Dr., 8/7/18, 1:45 a.m. An employee reported that a man placed several items, including alcohol, on the counter to purchase without an identification card.  After being told that he could not purchase the items he showed the clerk a gun in his waistband and walked out with the merchandise. He’s described as a black man, 5’8 – 5’10’ tall, weighing between 155-185 lbs., with black hair, brown eyes, and a full beard. He was last seen wearing a multicolored hat, a black shirt, dark pants, and sunglasses.

RESTON DISTRICT STATION

ATTEMPTED ROBBERY: 2200 block of Hunters Woods Plz., 8/7/18, 5:15 a.m. A resident called and stated that several young men tried to rob him at gunpoint. The group told him to stop and asked him for money. The resident took off running after one of the men implied he had a gun. He heard two gunshots and saw the group running in the opposite direction. He described the group as five Hispanic men that are at least 18 years old. Multiple shell casings were found and a bullet entered another resident’s home. No one was harmed and nothing was taken.

7400 block of Fullerton Road, 2012 Honda Civic CRX

FAIR OAKS DISTRICT STATION

ACCIDENTAL DISCHARGE OF A FIREARM: 3200 block of Arrowhead Cir., 8/7/18, 6:39 p.m. A resident was showing his friend a revolver that he had just bought. He put the revolver down on a table and went into a separate room. His friend picked up the revolver to look at it and accidentally pulled the trigger. He did not know that the gun was loaded. The bullet lodged into the floor and no one was harmed. Officers are currently following up with the Commonwealth’s Attorney Office in regards to possible charges.
