Detectives Asking for the Public’s Help to Identify Stabbing Suspect
Mason Police District – Detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying the person who stabbed a 71-year-old man in the Culmore area. On Tuesday, December 4 around 8:30 p.m., the victim was walking near the 3400 block of Payne Street when a man grabbed him from behind and stabbed him in the torso. The suspect then ran away into the neighborhood. Nothing was taken from the victim during this incident. The victim was taken to a local hospital where he underwent surgery, and he is now recovering from his injuries.
The suspect is described as a male, approximately 6 feet tall, weighing around 180 pounds, and wearing a black mask. The victim said the suspect was yelling at him with an Arabic accent. Detectives are asking anyone who was in the area from 7:30 to 9 that evening, or has information that could lead to identifying a possible suspect, to please contact Detective Lawalt at the Mason District Station at 703-256-8035.
