FCPD WEEKEND RECAP Monday, January 14
PURSUIT: Lee Highway/Union Mill Road, 01/14/19, 2 a.m. While on patrol, an officer observed a car that was driving erratically. The officer activated his emergency equipment and the driver failed to stop. The pursuit lasted a short distance but soon ended due to poor weather and road conditions. The description of the car was given to other officers in the area and the car was not found.

ROBBERY: 8400 block of Richmond Highway, 01/13/19, 12:00 a.m. The victim was approached by a man that showed a handgun and demanded his personal belongings and cash. The victim was not injured and the suspect was described as a black man dressed in all black clothing.

BURGLARY: 7812 Lee Highway (Seven Mart), 01/12/19, 3:47 a.m. A store employee reported cash and a safe missing from the store. A review of the store’s security video showed a man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black mask, black pants, black shoes and white gloves had entered the store through the back door, picked up a safe and then took cash from the registers.
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY: 8021 Leesburg Pike (Exxon), 01/12/19, 8:30 p.m. An employee was approached by a man who demanded money and implied that he had a weapon. The suspect was described as a Hispanic man between 20-25 years old. He was wearing a black jacket, grey sweatpants, and white shoes.
ASSAULT ON LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER/DRUNK IN PUBLIC/DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: 7100 block of Shreve Road, 01/12/19, 11:50 p.m. An officer responded to a man causing a disturbance and breaking items. The officer located the suspect and attempted to place him under arrest. The suspect then assaulted the officer and tried to run away. He was then caught and placed under arrest. Victor Vanegas, 24, of Fairfax was charged with assault on a law enforcement officer, drunk in public, destruction of property and possession of schedule 1 narcotics.

ASSAULT/RECKLESS HANDLING OF A FIREARM: 7100 block of Monticello Boulevard, 01/13/19, 5:45 a.m. Officers responded to a call for help at a home. A victim reported she was assaulted by a resident who had also fired gunshots into the air as the victim ran away. The dispute occurred over family matters and no one was seriously injured. Roney Sorto, 43, of Springfield, was charged with simple assault and reckless handling of a firearm.

WEST SPRINGFIELD DISTRICT STATION
MALICIOUS WOUNDING/STABBING: Shiplett Boulevard/Andromeda Drive, 01/12/19, 1:30 a.m. Officers responded for an assault where the victim and suspect had been fighting. During the fight, the victim was cut with a knife. Both men were taken to an area hospital with injuries that were not life threatening. Their injuries occurred during the fight. Ian Kelley, 24, of Springfield, was arrested for malicious wounding.
