Barricade at The Jefferson Apartments Safely Resolved

Mason Police District – A man is in custody following a barricade situation that ended around 9 this morning. Officers were initially called to the 6100 block of Leesburg Pike around 2 a.m. for the report of a man acting erratically. Officers saw the man sitting partially out of a 5th floor window at The Jefferson apartment complex. He was armed with a knife and threatened to harm himself. He refused commands to surrender and barricaded himself in his apartment.  Patrol officers contained the scene while crisis negotiators and tactical officers responded. The barricade was peacefully resolved nearly seven hours later when the man was taken into custody without any use of force. He is receiving a mental health evaluation at an area hospital.
