Fairfax County Police Department Investigating Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office Inmate Death

Detectives are investigating the in-custody death of 18-year-old inmate Sha-Kez Amir Green. Green was taken from the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center (ADC) to the hospital for medical attention on Monday, July 8 after being found unresponsive in his cell around 10:30 p.m. We were notified by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner that he died late last night. He had remained in hospital care until he passed. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will examine the body, but preliminarily, there are no signs of foul play.

Green had been in custody of the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office and incarcerated at the ADC since Dec. 18, 2018. The Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office and our department are working collectively to gather the facts and circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
