Homicide Investigation Underway After Man Shot in Springfield
Franconia Police District – Detectives are investigating after a man was fatally wounded earlier today in a shooting in the 6100 block of Dinwiddie Street in Springfield. Officers responded to a call for gunshots at 1:12 p.m. Upon their arrival they found Ever Deras-Borjas, 30, of Springfield, suffering from upper body trauma. Officers immediately rendered first aid until rescue personnel arrived. Deras-Borjas was taken to a nearby hospital where he unfortunately died of his injuries. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
Detectives are working diligently to process evidence and interview witnesses. Preliminarily, detectives do not believe this was a random act of violence and do not believe there is an ongoing threat to public safety. The suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his late teens with dark curly hair.

Victim specialists from our Major Crimes Bureau’s Victim Services Division have been assigned to ensure that the family is receiving appropriate resources and assistance.
This is the 11th homicide year to date in Fairfax County.
