UPDATE: Homicide Suspect Identified; Wanted for Murder and Use of Firearm in Commission of Felony

Mason Police District – An Annandale man is wanted in connection with last weekend’s fatal shooting of Jose Alexander Villa Lobo Guevara. Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau have identified a suspect, 20-year-old, Abel Alexander Castro Juarez, following a thorough investigation and obtained felony warrants for second degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Castro Juarez is described as Hispanic, around 5’6” tall and 170 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes. He is believed to be traveling in a blue, 2003 Honda Accord, VA/UMC8514 pictured below. If you see Castro Juarez, immediately call 9-1-1 and do not approach him, as he is believed to be armed and dangerous.

Homicide Investigation Underway After Man Fatally Injured in Annandale Shooting

Mason Police District – Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau are continuing to investigate a fatal shooting that occurred last evening in an Annandale apartment community. Officers responded shortly after 5 p.m. to the 4100 block of Wadsworth Court for a reported shooting. Upon their arrival they found Jose Alexander Villa Lobo Guevara, 20, of Annandale, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Officers immediately rendered aid until rescue personnel arrived. Lobo Guevara was pronounced dead at the scene. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.

This is an active investigation and detectives are continuing to conduct interviews and process evidence. Preliminarily, detectives do not believe this was a random act of violence and do not believe there is an ongoing threat to public safety.

Victim specialists from our Major Crimes Bureau’s Victim Services Division have been assigned to ensure that the victim’s family is receiving appropriate resources and assistance.

This is the 6th homicide year to date in Fairfax County.
