IMPERSONATING A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER: Interstate 66 at Route 28, 12/31/20, 8:57 a.m. A detective with our Major Crimes Bureau was driving on I-66 and noticed a 2019 Mitsubishi Mirage with flashing red and blue lights. The detective developed reasonable suspicion to make a traffic stop on the SUV and determined the driver, Ferney Vasquez, 27, of Herndon, was not a law enforcement officer nor was he permitted to drive with emergency equipment. He was charged with impersonating a law enforcement officer.
RECKLESS DISCHARGE/WEAPON ON SCHOOL PROPERTY: 8428 Fort Hunt Road (Sandburg Middle School), 12/14/20, 10:35 a.m. A man was observed on surveillance video driving a SUV into a parking space behind the school and firing one round from a firearm toward a nearby neighborhood before driving away. No injuries or property damage were reported. On Dec. 15 officers identified the man, Andrew Grauer, 48, of Fairfax, and obtained warrants for possession of a weapon on school grounds and shooting a weapon on school grounds. He was taken into custody on Dec. 25.
BRANDISHING/UNLAWFUL DISCHARGE: 7940 Richmond Highway (Costco), 12/29/20, 2:28 p.m. A man was involved in an argument inside the store and left in a car. He fired a gun into the air several times as he drove away. Officers identified the man, Ricardo Castaneda, 33, of Alexandria, and took him into custody later that evening. He was charged with brandishing, discharging firearm in a public place, carrying a concealed weapon and reckless handling of a firearm. No injuries or property damage were reported.
STOLEN AUTO RECOVERY: 8500 block of Leesburg Pike, 12/23/20, 12:58 p.m. Officers stopped a 2016 Acura RDX which had been reported stolen. The driver, Chesterfield Stewart, 21, of Maryland, was taken into custody. A gun with an altered serial number was located inside the SUV. Stewart was charged with receiving stolen goods and alteration of a weapon serial number.

BURGLARY/ASSAULT: 6400 block of Rockshire Street, 12/27/20, 2:22 a.m. A juvenile kicked open the front door of a home and assaulted the homeowners inside. One of the homeowners held the juvenile until officers arrived. The juvenile was charged with destruction of property, assault and burglary. One homeowner was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
