UPDATE: Driver Charged in Single-Vehicle Fatal Crash
Sully Police District – Yesterday, detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit obtained an arrest warrant for the driver in the Dec. 5 fatal crash involving a 29-year-old passenger. Rocio Miranda, 45, of Manassas, was charged with Driving Under the Influence – involuntary manslaughter. Miranda turned herself in at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where she was processed and released on a $20,000 unsecured bond.

Woman Dies after Single-Vehicle Crash in Chantilly
Sully Police District – A 29-year-old woman has died from injuries sustained in a crash that occurred early Sunday morning in Chantilly. Officers responded to a single vehicle crash at 4 a.m. on Poplar Tree Road at Leighfield Street. Estefania Cabrera, of Reston, was the passenger of a 2017 Toyota Highlander which was traveling eastbound on Poplar Tree Road. As the driver passed through the intersection at Leighfield Street, the Toyota drifted off the roadway to the right, striking a tree head on.
Ms. Cabrera was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced deceased. The driver of the Toyota was taken to a hospital with injuries considered life threatening and remains hospitalized.
Preliminarily, detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit believe that speed and alcohol both appear to be factors of the crash.
