Detectives Seek Assistance Identifying Smash-and-Grab Thieves
Mount Vernon Police District – Detectives are investigating a smash-and-grab larceny that occurred at My Eye Dr, 6307 Richmond Highway in the Alexandria section of Fairfax County. Officers responded at 6:22 p.m. on April 19 four males entered the business; damaged the glass display cases; and stole over $20,000 worth of eyeglass frames. Surveillance video captured the suspects, described as four black males, 17 to 23 years old, wearing gloves, masks, and hoods or hats to cover their hair. A fifth male was waiting in an older-model black Toyota Camry with tinted windows and black hubcaps.
“Detectives are following up on leads and are aware of similar incidents throughout the National Capital Region,” said Capt. Frederick Chambers, Commander of the Criminal Investigations Division. “Detectives continue to work with our law enforcement partners in the region to identify the suspects involved in this incident and are closely examining others that fit this same troubling pattern. We are asking for information from our community and reminding them they can remain anonymous through our Crime Solvers tip line.”
