Man Dies in Single-Vehicle Crash in Oakton

Fair Oaks Police District – An 18-year-old man has died from injuries sustained in a crash that occurred just before 11 p.m. Sunday night in Oakton. Officers responded to a single-vehicle crash in the 3200 block of Fox Mill Road near Bronzedale Drive. Franklin Aquino of Chantilly was the driver of a 2007 Mazda 3. Preliminarily, detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit determined he was traveling south on Fox Mill Road. As the Mazda crested the hill, Aquino lost control and went off the road to the right, striking a tree.

Aquino was taken to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. A juvenile passenger was transported to a hospital with injuries not considered to be life threatening and remains hospitalized. Preliminarily, speed is considered a factor in the crash.

This is the 5th non-pedestrian related fatality in the County to date in 2022.
