Murder Suspect Arrested

Mount Vernon Police District – Kyjuan Omar Braxton Trott-McLean was arrested yesterday afternoon in the Mount Vernon Police District.

On Wednesday night, officers located an unoccupied vehicle they believed Trott-McLean was using in the 8600 block of Forest Place. Detectives from our Fugitive Track and Apprehension Unit responded to conduct a surveillance operation on the vehicle.

Shortly after noon on Thursday, Trott-McLean was seen returning to the vehicle under surveillance in another vehicle. Detectives approached, and he attempted to flee in the vehicle that he arrived in. Detectives prevented his escape by making contact with his vehicle and rendering it inoperable. Trott-McLean was taken to a nearby hospital to be evaluated. He was then taken to the Adult Detention Center and held without bond.

No firearm was recovered. Detectives are asking anyone with information to call our Major Crimes Bureau at 703-246-7800 and select Option 8. Mount Vernon Police District – The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Victims’ Rights Foundation have partnered to offer $5,000 each to be used as a combined reward with Crime Solvers for information that leads to the arrest of the Kyjuan Omar Braxton Trott-McLean.

Officers were called around 7 a.m. on Oct. 2 to the 5800 block of St Gregorys Lane in Mount Vernon for a report of gunshots. While officers were responding, Brandon Wims, 31, of Maryland was dropped off at Mount Vernon Hospital. He was suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body and was later transported to Fairfax Hospital. Sadly, Wims was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Detectives determined Trott-McLean saw Wims in the backseat of a vehicle on St Gregorys Lane. Trott-McLean exited a silver Nissan Sentra with Maryland registration and shot Wims multiple times.

Detectives obtained warrants for Trott-McLean for second degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, felon in possession of a firearm and felon in possession of ammunition. Detectives are asking anyone with information on Trott-McLean’s whereabouts to call our Major Crimes Bureau at 703-246-7800 and select Option 8. Mount Vernon District – The Fairfax County Police Department is actively investigating the murder of Brandon Wims, 31, of Maryland and has identified Kyjuan Omar Braxton Trott, 43, of Mount Vernon, as a wanted suspect. 

Officers were called around 7 a.m. on Oct. 2 to the 5800 block of St Gregorys Lane in Mount Vernon for a report of gunshots. While officers were responding, Wims was dropped off at Mount Vernon Hospital suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body. Wims was later transported to Fairfax Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will complete an autopsy to confirm the manner and cause of death.   

Detectives determined Trott saw Wims in a vehicle with two other occupants on St Gregorys Lane. Trott exited a silver Nissan Sentra with Maryland registration 2ET4005 and shot Wims multiple times. The driver of the vehicle with Wims in the backseat drove to the Mount Vernon Hospital, where police were called. Both occupants were taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries not considered life threatening. Detectives continue to investigate the relationship between Trott and Wims. 

Detectives obtained warrants for Trott for second degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, felon in possession of a firearm and felon in possession of ammunition. Detectives are asking anyone with information to Trott’s whereabouts to call 703-246-7800. If you see Trott, please call 911 immediately.
