Man Arrested After Non-Fatal Shooting at Daycare Facility

West Springfield Police District– Detectives from our Fugitive Tracking and Apprehension Unit quickly located and arrested the man detectives identified as the suspect in yesterday’s non-fatal shooting in Springfield.

Yesterday, officers responded shortly after 2:14 p.m. to the 8500 block of Bauer Drive in Springfield for a domestic-related shooting. Two adult victims were found suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body. Officers arrived within minutes and rendered aid to both victims prior to being transported to the hospital for injuries not considered to be life-threatening by Fairfax Fire and Rescue personnel.

Detectives determined Julio Pascual Sejas, 41, of Arlington, arrived at the parking lot in his car. He attempted to speak to his estranged wife and gain entry into the business but was not allowed in. He then fired three rounds through the door into the business, striking two victims. Sejas left the scene prior to officers arriving.

Officers searched for Sejas but were unable to locate him. Detectives obtained warrants for two counts of Aggravated Malicious Wounding, three counts of Shooting at a School Building, and two counts of Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony.

Within three hours, detectives from our Fugitive Tracking and Apprehension Unit located and arrested Sejas at Dulles International Airport as he was attempting to pick up family members who were arriving in Virginia. He was transported to the Adult Detention Center and held on no bond.
