FCPD’s Third Wave of Road Shark Ends with a Bite

Fairfax County, VA – FCPD’s Road Shark campaign has successfully wrapped up its third wave. Officers and Troopers issued over 8,500 citations and warnings, with over 200 citations for reckless driving on our roadways.

Between June 17 and 23, FCPD worked in conjunction with the Virginia State Police in completing the third wave of our 2024 “Road Shark” traffic safety campaign within Fairfax County.

Road Shark represents a strategic initiative focused on enhancing visibility and implementing coordinated enforcement and educational activities to combat aggressive driving, minimize traffic incidents, and foster positive changes in driving behavior. Our dedicated officers and Virginia State Troopers play a pivotal role in the effectiveness of this campaign aimed at curbing the presence of reckless drivers in Fairfax County.

The results from wave three of Road Shark continues to set the stage for the rest of the year. Our officers halted reckless drivers, arrested drunk drivers, and issued 180 hands-free citations.

FCPD officers and our Virginia State Police partners worked tirelessly throughout the week to educate and issue over 8,500 citations and warnings. That’s over 2,600 more citations and warnings issued in our third Road Shark wave of 2023.

Wave four of Road Shark will begin on August 5.
