(Release date 072116) Update

Reston Police District – Detectives from the Crash Reconstruction Unit determined that the vehicle that struck the tree was a 2001 Volvo S40. The Volvo was traveling south on River Bend Road when it partially crossed the double-yellow line. At the same time, a vehicle was traveling north in the same area of River Bend Road and the Volvo apparently swerved to avoid hitting it. The Volvo went off the roadway and struck the tree. The deceased driver has been identified as 24-year-old David Reese Alison IV of Great Falls.

Alcohol may be a contributing factor.
