Homicide Investigation Underway after Fatal Stabbing in Vienna

Fair Oaks Police District – A Vienna man is facing a murder charge after a stabbing in the 2900 block of Edgelea Road in Vienna. Officers responded to a home around 8:30 this morning and found Mohammed Hemmatian, 61, inside suffering from trauma to his upper body. He was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

The suspect, 27-year-old Abdulloi Toshpulodzoda, remained at the scene and has been charged with murder. Toshpulodzoda was taken to a nearby hospital for a routine evaluation where he suffered a medical emergency and is currently in stable condition. A photo is not currently available.

Both involved parties resided in the home where the event occurred.

Detectives are continuing their investigation into the events leading up to the stabbing. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine cause and manner of death.

Victim specialists from our Major Crimes Bureau’s Victim Services Division have been assigned to ensure that the family is receiving appropriate resources and assistance.

This is the 13^th homicide year to date in Fairfax County.
