UPDATE: Homicide Victim Identified

 

The deceased victim from Saturday evening’s homicide has been identified as Junior Abel Flores, 24, of the Springfield area. This homicide investigation is ongoing.

Police Investigate Overnight Homicide

Police are investigating an overnight homicide in the Springfield area. Around 10:05 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, officers were called to the area of Backlick Road and Highland Street for the report of a man lying in the roadway, possibly struck by a vehicle. Officers located the man and determined he had an injury to the upper body, not consistent with a vehicle crash. The 24-year-old man was transported to the hospital where he later died. The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, who are located outside the country.

This investigation is ongoing. No further information is expected to be released today.
